Eleanor Klingst Adams of Little Rock died December 24, 2011. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Lieutenant Richard P. and Erna Klingst who preceded her in death. Her husband was Coy Morris Adams, City Personnel Director and head of Civil Service for Little Rock.
Survivors include her son, Wayne E. Adams and his wife, Donna; grandsons Wayne Adams, Jr. and Matthew Adams and his wife, Shannon; granddaughter, Meghan Adams and great-grandchildren, Abigail, Oliver and Eleanor Adams.
Eleanor was retired as Choir Director and organist of Asbury United Methodist Church for 36 years.
She was a graduate of Mount St. Mary Academy and majored in music at Little Rock Junior College and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Her tenure in music ministry included First Lutheran, First Evangelical and Reformed, and Asbury United Methodist. She studied with Alice Henniger, Bel Canto School of Voice and Dr. Mauer of the Lutheran Theological Seminary of Chicago. She was a member of the Musical Coterie and the American Guild of Organists and was an organ recitalist for the Guild's Tri-State Convention. She was staff organist for Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth for 72 years.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th St. Little Rock (501) 661-9111. A private family graveside service will be held Wednesday at Roselawn Cemetery with Rev. Nathan Kilbourne, officiating.
