ELEANOR WEAKLEY June 8, 1915 – April 8, 2011 Eleanor Mansfield Weakley of Camas, WA, completed a long and eventful journey of almost 96, years on April 8, 2011. She was born in Stapleton, NE on June 8, 1915, the only child of W. C. (Carl) and Pearl Mansfield. She came west with her family as a small child, graduated from Camas High School and attended Oregon State College. Eleanor married her high school sweetheart, Fred Weakley, in 1939 and was his partner and helpmate for nearly 63 years until his death in 2002. Eleanor was active in community activities in Camas, Mt. Vernon, WA and Newport, OR. Following Fred's retirement as the manager of the Port of Newport, the couple returned to Camas. They traveled the world extensively during their retirement years. She was a charter member of Alpha Nu, member of Orchard Hills Country Club, and active in the Camas United Methodist Church. She was an excellent bridge player and enjoyed this activity until her death. Eleanor was an astute business woman and did her own bookwork without the use of a computer, claiming by the time she learned to use a computer she could have had her bookwork done. She took great pleasure in her family and friends. "A long life well lived" Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Gail Gregg (John) and son, Gregg Weakley (Charlotte) all of Vancouver; grandchildren, Scott Clemans, Tiffany Gregg, Bryan Gregg and Gerrick Weakley plus four great-grandchildren. At Eleanor's request, there will not be a memorial service. The family will hold a graveside service at the Camas Cemetery at a later date.
