Hello Gene, I came across your mother's passing. I want to extend my condolences and I am so sorry for your loss. The one time I met your mother while we were in high school, she greeted me with the most welcoming smile and she was so kind to me. I've never, ever forgotten her kindness and often think of you both.

Considering where she comes from, Romania and then California , this should not be surprising. Apparently she does have strong survival instincts and she sacrificed a lot to get them both to the US. Those really hard times in a War like state could only strengthen their bond. She was also a hard worker all of her life. My impression from Gene was that she stayed busy.

Gene was a good and loyal son to Elena. For most of us it would be difficult to have a Parent live so close but I can’t remember one time he ever complained. It may actually be from what I know about Gene’s character that gives me the most insight into the kind of person and Mom that Elena was. I have developed a great respect for them both.

One of the hardest losses to endure is the loss of ones own Mom, because there is no other bond like it.

I just hope I can handle the loss of mine as gracefully when her time comes.

I deeply regret your loss Gene and know I will always be there if you need me.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered "come to me." With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

Gene, you are in our thoughts and prayers. May God grant you the strength to endure these difficult days and may He fill your heart with peace, knowing that your Mom is in a better place. We are here for you always.

Gene, sorry to hear of your loss. May God rest her soul and my prayers are with you. We had many great times at your place during our highschool years. We made the best of it and you are a very devoted son.

Gene, Julie told me what a loving job you did, caring for your mom in her last days - you have always been a devoted son, that was evident to everyone who knows you. We will be keeping you in our thoughts over these coming days.
