Once in a while, if we are lucky, we meet someone in life that exhibits what it means to have a "Heart of Gold". Bee was truly a standard-bearer in this sense. For me, it was next to impossible to be in a bad mood or a negative state around this guy for very long. He was always looking for an excuse to smile regardless of whether or not a particular situation accommodated reasons for smiling. His laid-back demeanor and his appreciation of life was often uplifting to the people around him.
As the years passed and my ability to visit with the family became less and less frequent, Bee would always seem to be able to pick up where we left off in our conversations despite the span of time between them. He remembered the things that were going on in my life from prior conversations, and would always be sure to update himself on what was happening with me whenever I would stop by. This to me is a true testament to how much Bee cared about the people around him... even those who were peripheral to his day-to-day life. The world is a lesser place in his absence. For Mel, Pat, and the rest of the family, I wish I had the words that would somehow make this an easier pill to swallow. I know how much he meant to you guys. Some comfort should be found in the fact that there is no doubt as to where Elijah Bee Shepherd is headed now. God’s speed my friend.

I remember way back in the late 70's Bee had hidden a rear view mirror of a car I truely loved and as I was leaving his parents home he ran out and gave it to me. Tears filled my eyes immediately, as always he was showing what a wonderful, loving person he was. He always treated me like a friend. He wil be missed. My prayers go out to the Shepherd family in this their time of sorrow.

Bee was very much loved and will be missed terribly!!! He didn't have a selfish bone is his body. May he rest in peace.

WOW. i am for real going to miss him. Everytime i was feeling down in the dumps he was always around to make me happy...he would say the funniest things just to make me smile. Just happy that he is feeling no pain and looking down on us. Love and miss u!

I have known Elijah Bee since 1975 and he was always good for a conversion. My thoughts are with his family in these tough times.He will always be remembered as we sit and talk of our pass.
