Elizabeth A. Stansberry, 79, of Cottonwood, died November 14th, 2011 in Cottonwood. She was born Feb. 8th, 1932 in Muskegon Heights, MI, the daughter of Hugh and Velma Lynn. She was a Pastor's wife, devoted mother, a nanny to many children, with a heart for hospitality. Whether you were a neighbor across the street or a missionary from Africa or Asia, you could always count on a warm welcome, a cool drink and hot meal at the Stansberry house. After being raised in the Midwest, she moved to Southern California with her husband and children in the early 60's. In 1977 the family moved to Phoenix, AZ where they planted a new church, which they pastored until retiring to the Verde Valley in 2001. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Richard Stansberry, her daughters Cheryl Graf (Russ) of San Diego and Diane Knochel (Theodore) of Cottonwood, a son Daniel of Phoenix, and two grandsons. A visitation will be held Thursday, November 17, at the Verde Baptist Church in Cottonwood at 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 18, at the Verde Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. An online guestbook is available to sign at www.westcottfuneralhome.com
