Elizabeth Charlotte Hinck Loomis completed her journey and mission on earth August 3, 2011. She peacefully closed her eyes while surrounded by family and loving caregivers at her home in Sandy, Utah. Lee was blessed to have lived almost 97 years with extremely good health that gave her the ability to live life to its fullest while serving others.
"Lee" was born on October 2, 1914 to Claus Frederick Hinck and Luise Hofmeister Hinck in Montclair, New Jersey. Lee graduated with her Registered Nursing degree from Lenox Hill Nursing School in New York City in 1938. She married David G. Loomis, on December 23, 1938 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Together they raised 4 children in Delaware and New Jersey and then retired and moved to Vermont. In 2006 Lee moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to be close to her son Dick and his family. She was living at Sunrise Assisted Living in Sandy at the time of her passing.
Lee is survived by her children: Elizabeth C. Loomis, Santa Barbara, CA; Richard C. Loomis (Connie) Sandy, UT; Amy L. Verner (Robin) Manchester, VT; Margaret A. Morgan (Jeff) Montville, NJ, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dani, Sally and Marge as well as the other care givers at Sunrise of Sandy who loved Lee and took such tremendous care of her over the last three weeks. We would also like to express our gratitude to Sonnie and Barbara from Good Shepherd Hospice for treating our mother and grandmother with the utmost respect and love during her final days.
A memorial gathering will be held for friends of family at the home of Dick and Connie Loomis on Sunday, August 7 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm (8150 Telford Way, Sandy). Interment services will be held October 22 in South Bristol, Maine.
In lieu of flowers the family would suggest that a contribution be made to the American Friends Service Committee at afsc.org or to the Salt Lake Quaker Meeting (71 East 4800 South, Murray, Utah 84107).
