Elizabeth E. "Lib" Hayes, 87 of Cambridge, died Sunday, Mother's Day (May 9, 2010) surrounded by family. She was born December 18, 1922 in Guernsey County, a daughter of the late George S. and Abby (Hill) Duke. As a young lady Mrs. Hayes was an employee of the former Cambridge Glass Company before marrying the love of her life spending the rest of her life as a devoted homemaker. She also baby sat numerous children who still affectionately call her Nanny. She was Protestant by faith and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and had quite a green thumb. In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her husband Wilbur L. Hayes, whom she married February 16, 1946; three brothers, Jack, George and Jim, an infant brother and three sisters Leona, Rachael Jane and Zella, and a grandson, Paul Hayes. She leaves three daughters, Janet (Danny) Roe of Cambridge, Jean (Walt) Lawrence of Pickerington, Julie (Roger) Gotcher of Cambridge; three sons, Jack (Paulette) Hayes of Florida, Jim (Sharon) Hayes of Cambridge, and Jerry (Donna) Hayes of Stow; nineteen grandchildren, John Hayes, Heath (Aimee) Hayes, Heather (Kyle) Hamilton, Biff (Melissa) Hayes, Dale (Lisa) Eibel, Brandon (Kacey) Hayes, Danielle Maximo, Jesse Hayes, Rob (Sahara) Boles, Erin Hayes, Kristin Roe, Dennis Roe, Breanne (Adrianne) Duke, Abby (Jeff) Duke, Nathan Lawrence, Bradly (Kacee) Gregg, Tim Gregg and Jordan Gotcher; sixteen great grandchildren, Bradford and Abby Hayes, Jennifer and Jessica Hayes, Zack and Matti Chrisman, Hunter and Kole Hamilton, Easton and Jhett Eibel, Kenley Hayes, Landen Hayes, Aubrey and Ashley Duke-Ward and Bradyn and Mason Gregg and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 11, from 4 to 8 pm at Bundy-Law Funeral Home. The service will be on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 11 am. Rev. Sturman Moore will officiate the service with burial following in Center Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Guernsey County Cancer Society 927 E.
