Elizabeth Jane Teel, 78, died on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, where she lived since 2006. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m, Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Our Lady of Peace Chapel, Bishop Drumm. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Iles Funeral Homes – Westover Chapel. Elizabeth was born on August 26, 1931 in Jameson, Missouri, the daughter of Elihu and Frankie Thompson. She grew up in Gallatin, Missouri and on February 17, 1947 was united in marriage to James Teel in Gallatin. In 1955 they moved to Des Moines. Elizabeth worked at Helzberg Jewelry for 12 and a half years and retired in 1993. She had attended First Assembly of God Church and First Federated Church, prior to moving to Bishop Drumm. She enjoyed watching baseball games and rooting for her favorite teams, Kansas City Royals, St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Linda (Richard) Johnson and Larry Teel all of Grimes and Doris Eich-Smouse (Jeff) of Urbandale; six grandchildren, Dennis (Kathe) Slavin, Robbie Slavin, Stephanie Eich, John (Jeni) Eich, Sara (Jason)Stevens and Jordan Wheeler; six great grandchildren, Michael Slavin, Alex Slavin, Steven Eich, Parker Eich, Hayden Eich, Maximus Stevens and Maddy Stevens, who is expected to join the family very soon; her brothers and sister, Dean Thompson and Dorothy Wilson both of St. Joseph, MO and Charles (Ruth) Thompson of Leavenworth, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James; infant daughter, Beverly; three sisters, Frances Beck, Ada Ruth Howard and Mildred DeVary and two brothers, Marshall and Robert Thompson.
