Westmoreland, N.H. - Elizabeth M. "Betty" Bordner, 93, formerly of Plain Road in Hinsdale died peacefully early Tuesday morning, September 13, 2011 at Maplewood Nursing Home. She was born on October 10, 1917 in Harrisville, N.H. the daughter of William and Lizzie (LaPointe) McGrath. Mrs. Bordner was raised and educated in Harrisville and was a graduate of Keene High School, Class of 1935. She had been employed by the town of Hinsdale as food service manager at both Hinsdale Elementary and Hinsdale High School retiring in 1995 following 30 years of faithful service to the town. A devoted homemaker her life centered around her family. With her husband she enjoyed wintering in St. Cloud, Florida. Mrs. Bordner was a member of the Parent Teachers Association in Hinsdale. Of her leisure time activities, she enjoyed sewing, cooking and canning, playing cards and going fishing with her husband. African violets were her favorite flower. On April 28, 1937 in Hinsdale she was married to John Bordner who predeceased her on June 12, 1984. Survivors include five daughters, Anne Boudrieau of Ringe, Evelyn Ebbighausen of Windsor, VT, Janice Field of Sunapee, Frances Bristol of Guilford and Jacqueline Schnabel of Center Reach, Long Island, one son, Stephen Bordner of Hinsdale, 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, one great great grandson and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters, Margurite Sklat, Annie Majer, Eleanor Johnson Chamberlin and Virginia Provencher and two brothers, John McGrath and William McGrath. Graveside committal services will be conducted on Saturday, September 24'Th at 10:00 A.M. in Pine Grove Cemetery in Hinsdale where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Friends are invited to call at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home this Thursday from 7 to 9 P.M. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Bordner's name may be made to, Rescue Inc. P.O. Box 593, Brattleboro, VT 05302.
