Elizabeth Marguerite Robinson Burris was born on July 20, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of Gladys Frame and Richard Wallace Robinson. Educated in the Brooklyn Public School System, she later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance at Kean University in Union, New Jersey. On October 1, 1949, she was joined in holy matrimony to James Henry Burris and this union was blessed with three children, Eliot, Eve and Suzanne. They would raise their children in Roselle, New Jersey. Mrs. Burris was a dedicated Girl Scout Leader serving in various roles for many years. She was also an avid bowler and because of her love of children and concern for their development, she became a bowling instructor and started youth bowling leagues at Roselle Lanes. She had been employed as a Lock Box Supervisor at National State Bank in Elizabeth, New Jersey for many years. Mrs. Burris was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Roselle (now known as St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church located in Linden) and of the Roselle Active Seniors Club. Two years ago, Elizabeth moved to Sayreville, NJ to live with her oldest daughter, Eve. For Elizabeth, family was paramount. Family is a haven. Her heart and front door were always open. All were welcome, and many a Sunday meal was shared by 4 generations of love. This is the reason our family thrives. Elizabeth Marguerite Robinson Burris was predeceased by her parents, Gladys and Richard Robinson; her husband, James Henry Burris who passed away in 1983; a daughter, Suzanne Burris-Greb who passed away in 2002; sisters, Junetta Smith and Agnes Berry and a brother, Richard Robinson. She leaves to cherish fond memories, a son, Eliot Burris and his wife, Cindy of Tucson, AZ; a daughter, Eve Burris of Sayreville, NJ; grandchildren, Christopher Greb and his wife, Jocelyn of Roselle Park, NJ, Katie Streep and her husband, Brian of Elizabeth, NJ, Jill Greb of Roselle Park, NJ, Nicholas Greb of Sayreville, NJ, Matthew Burris of West Hollywood, CA and Marc Burris of Tucson, AZ; great grandchildren, Christopher Greb, Jr. and Brooklyn Streep; a brother, Wilbert Robinson of Wallingford, CT; a sister-in-law, Gloria Anderson of Brooklyn, NY; a son-in-law, Lindsay Greb of Roselle Park, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
