Mr. Ellis D. McCommons, 78, of 131 West Main Street, Fayetteville, PA, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 21, 1933 in Shade Gap, PA, he was the son of the late George D. and Emma (Lake) McCommons. He and his wife of over 58 years, Dorothy (Floyd) McCommons, were married on April 10, 1953 in Florida. Mr. McCommons retired from the United States Air Force in 1973 after 21 years of service. During his time in the Air Force he served in Vietnam and was a mechanic and scheduler. Following his retirement from the military, he worked at Grove Manufacturing in Shady Grove, PA, retiring as a supervisor in 1989. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Judy Carter and her husband Frank of Walterboro, SC, Shorty McCommons of Walterboro, SC, Kenneth McCommons of Fort Loudon, PA, and Kyla McCommons of Fayetteville, PA; four grandchildren, Tani Herndon, Danny Herndon, Zack McCommons, and Ashley McCommons; six great-grandchildren, Dominic Sollers, Gabriel Sollers, Lylli McCommons, Daymeon Scheider, Vance Buttleman, and Brooke Buttleman; one brother, Donald Naugle of Shade Gap; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Donald Naugle; and one brother, Gary Naugle. Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Alzheimer's Association, 3544 N Progress Ave, Ste 205, Harrisburg, PA, 17110.
