Eloise Elizabeth Young, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1955, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011, after a brief illness. Born to Alfred Tracy Hubbard and Pauline McMichael Hubbard in October of 1923, she was raised in Aztec, New Mexico, graduated in 1941 from Durango High School in Colorado, and attended the University of New Mexico. In 1942, she met and married Marvin Young, of the Army Air Corps, relocated to Texas, and subsequently gave birth to two children, Eloise Jean and Robert Eugene. In 1955, finding herself newly divorced, she returned to Albuquerque with her children, ultimately taking an administrative position with the Bernalillo County Court Clerk's office. In an era when women in management in the judicial system were a rarity, Eloise showed, through her tenacity, professionalism, and dedication to excellence, that she had what it took to keep the Clerk's office running smoothly. In 1971 she was appointed as Chief Court Clerk of the Second Judicial District. She remained in this position until her retirement in 1985. A very private person, Eloise preferred quiet interaction with her family to social pursuits and she could always be counted on to support her favorite charities, of which there were many. Eloise was predeceased by her daughter, Eloise Jean (Jeannie) Wray in 2008, and her brother, James M. Hubbard in 2011. She is survived by her son, Robert Eugene Young and daughter-in-law Kathleen of Diamond Springs, CA, granddaughter, Leslie M. McBride (husband William) of Cerrillos, NM, granddaughter, Dallas D. Ulibarri (husband Victor), great-grandson, Max M. Ulibarri, great-granddaughter, Matilda W. Ulibarri, son-in-law, James D. Wray, sister-in-law, Lorraine Hubbard, and nephew, William M. Hubbard (wife Debbie) all of Albuquerque, and nephew, James T. Hubbard (wife Karen) of Grand Prairie, TX. No formal services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made, if desired, to Eloise's favorite charities, the Humane Society or the SPCA.
