Elsie N. Mata, born October 10, 1948, resident of Austin passed away peacefully January 14, 2012. Elsie dedicated her life to being a loving caregiver, not only in her title at the Cornerstone Hospital but in her everyday life. She was full of compassion for others, and it showed in the lives of her family and the elderly she cared for through the years.

She was the loving fiance of Kenneth Brown, beloved mother of Kathy Olvera, Marcellino Mata (Dina), Lisa Mata-Buentello (John), Karen Rodela (BJ), Mark Mata (Janet), Rhonda Martinez (Chris) and Grandmother to 28 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. She will forever be remembered by her devoted siblings 4 brothers Fidel, Wally, Sam, and Arthur and 3 sisters Leticia, Nelda, and Gloria and numerous nieces', nephews and cousins. Proceeded in death by parents Berta N. and Guadalupe Casares; also Marcellino and Eva R. Mata. Elsie touched the lives of many people with her smile, generosity, compassion and sense of humor, and maintained all of her trademarks until the end.

Please join the family as we gather together in her honor, Wednesday, January 18, 2012. Visitation will be held 5:00 pm with a Rosary following at 7:00 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel on South Congress. Mass service on Thursday, January 19, 2012at St. Julia Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m.

Pallbearers: Allen McBeth, Marc-Leo Mata, Johnathan Buentello, Aaron McBeth, Richard Montalvo, Jacob Buentello, and Honorary Pallbearers: Joshua Montalvo, Joseph Buentello and Christian Martinez.

The family extends sincere appreciation to their aunts and uncles, family and friends for their support during this very difficult time, especially like to thank Sam and Patty Casares for generously giving of themselves.
