Elva Morene Hudson Williams
(May 17, 1914 – August 21, 2010)

Life’s journey has ended for our loving beautiful mother and grandmother, Elva Morene Williams. She left this earthly existence on August 21, 2010, to join her sweet husband G. Bradley Williams, and oldest son Phillip H. Williams. The rest of her family and friends will miss her very much. She has been a great strength and light to us for a very long time.
Morene was born on May 17, 1914, in Greenville, South Carolina, to a family of 14 children. She learned at an early age how to work hard and contribute to the wellbeing of others. It was here she learned many abilities and skills that would serve her for the rest of her life; excelling as a seamstress, cook, gardener, and beautician. Many of her clients were elderly and she was doing their hair into her nineties.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a mission for her church in the Southern States, and held various positions like Stake and Ward Primary President, Young Women’s President, Cub Scout Leader, and Sunday School Teacher. She had a beautiful voice and was asked to sing often.
Her greatest love and accomplishment was her family. She will continue to be a great example and inspiration to all of us. Her tireless service to others, faith in God and determination to keep going even when things were hard will be remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by five of her six children, M. Dee Williams, Elgin B. Williams, Susan Hatch, Rosemary Frost, and Rebecca Duncan, and by twenty-five grandchildren and forty-five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010, at Cottonwood 14th Ward, 1160 Vine Street, Salt Lake City, Utah, at 12:00 PM. The family will be accepting visitors on Friday, August 27, 2010, at Holladay – Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. You may also visit with family members an hour before the services at the Cottonwood 14th Ward Chapel.
