LaMar passed away at home, April 28, 2010, with his loved ones holding his hands and surrounding him with love.
He was born Oct. 14, 1915 in Heber City, Ut. LaMar graduated from Wasatch High School, where he was a noted athlete on the varsity basketball, baseball and track and field teams. He later played semi-professional baseball in Salt Lake City where he was a pitcher of some repute.
LaMar married his high school sweetheart, Helen Murdock, Sept. 30, 1938, and together they raised two sons, Steve and Stan. He was a craftsman and homebuilder for over 40 years, doing everything from laying the foundations to finishing the cabinets. LaMar was a loyal and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in many positions including as a member of the Bishopric.
During WW ll, LaMar served in the Merchants Marines, and later was in Japan as a member of the army occupational and reconstruction forces.
LaMar is survived by his two sons, Steve, (Mary) and Stan, (Debbie); his grandchildren; Becky, Sara, Stephie, Suzan, Heather, Bryan, Cameron and one great grandchild, Adam. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, grandson, Matthew, brother, Fenton and sister, Faun.
Dad, you were greatly loved by all of us, and you are sadly missed, but we are happy you will finally be with Mom and Matthew.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 2:00 pm with a visitation an half hour prior to services at the Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S. Highland Drive. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City.
