Emily Barrett Ashbrook of Hot Springs died Tuesday, January 24, 2012. She was a retired masseuse from the Majestic Hotel and a member of the Temple of Jesus Name Pentecostal Church. She was born June 23, 1921 to the late Fred and Bessie Kneisly Barrett in Cleveland, Oklahoma. She graduated from Cutter Morning Star High School and Kellberg Institute of Massage and Physical Therapy in Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Fred Barrett, Frank Barrett, A.C. Barrett and Helen Boling and her husband, Loyd Ashbrook.

Survivors include daughters, Wanda Vitale and husband Frank of Hot Springs, Shirley Hartman and husband Alfred of Russellville; grandsons, Mark Hurst of San Pedro, California, Scott Hurst of Hot Springs, Eric Hartman of Dallas, Texas; granddaughters, Emily Hartman of Little Rock, Elizabeth Birge and husband Gary of Chugiak, Alaska; great-grandchildren, Bryer Birge and Audrey Birge of Chugiak, Alaska; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 2:00-3:00 p.m. Friday at Gross Funeral Home with funeral services at 3:00 p.m., with Brother Van Glidewell and Chaplin David Keiser officiating. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Moore, Lloyd Howerton, Lon Sheridan, Stan Veasey, Carl Cranford and Matt Wood. Burial will be in Morning Star Cemetery.

The family thanks Lakewood Nursing Home staff and Arkansas Hospice for their loving care and support of our mother.
