19 long years ago, my world changed because you are no longer in it. I am still saddened by your passing. I still tear up when I think of you or see you in pictures of us together over the years. 19 long years ago, my world changed because you are no longer in it. I am still saddened by your passing. I still tear up when I think of you or see you in pictures of us together over the years. My heart breaks when I go home...into the house you built and raised me and my sister. However, I know that one fine day, we will be reunited again and then it will be forever. Thank you for being my daddy, teacher, mentor, example of what a good person is....while you were here on earth.....and thank you now for being my Guarding Angel. I have absolutely no doubts that you are! Tomorrow, on the day you died, I will be going to visit a head stone. It is JUST a stone. Cold. Impersonal. Dead. But that headstone also reminds me of a life....a wonderful life....and reminds me that there is life eternal. Say hi to Richard and Jerome, Auntie Beda, Uncle Ed and the rest of the family. It has been 17 long years now since my grandfather, Erhard Olson, died. I miss him as much today as I did the day he died. Even though my life is good, my heart still aches at the passing of my hero and best friend that I will ever have. He cared for me as in infant, taught me how to ride a bike without training wheels, bandaged my cuts and scrapes as I learned life's little lessons along the way. He made sure I grew up to be a self sufficient woman who could tell wrong from right and strong enough to stand up for both people and animals who could not help themselves. He taught me that there is no one in this world that can take away your honor OR your education. He taught me to love even when I faced people who did not love me. My grandfather was my heartbeat and now....every time I think of him...my heart misses a beat....and that is each and every day of my life. I will continue to live my life and strive to be a good, honest, decent and loving person. And when God finally says, "ok, my child, you've done enough and it's time to come home," I will once again see this wonderful man and walk down the "sidewalks of heaven"...a lot like the many times he walked down the sidewalk with me as a child.
