Eric C. Richards Obituary


Eric C. Richards, 46, of Fort Collins, passed away January 16, 2006 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Eric was born November 23, 1959 in Casper, Wyoming to Gene Edward and Nancy Mae (Bowers) Richards. He graduated from Arapahoe High School in Littleton and attended the University of Colorado in Boulder for one year. He worked with a seismic exploration company, traveling for 8 years. Much of that time was spent in Alaska. Eric was united in marriage to Martha Liston on October 16, 1988 in Bolivar, Missouri. They moved to Fort Collins in 1989, where he graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. Driven by his sincere desire to make a difference, Eric decided to become a teacher. In 1994, he began teaching science for the Poudre School District at Lincoln Junior High. He not only taught science, but he wanted to help students to think, reason and to make good decisions. Eric was a true gentleman who was committed to his family and to his work. He will be dearly missed. Eric is survived by his wife of 17 years Martha Richards and their son Logan Richards of Fort Collins; parents, Gene and Nancy Richards of Littleton; brother Scott Richards of Anchorage, Alaska; and sister Jody Richards of Denver. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2006 at Allnutt Drake Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eric Richards Memorial Fund at the Poudre School District in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W. Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO 80526.
