Dr. Sturley was born on June 9, 1915 and passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010.

Dr. Sturley was a resident of Edwardsville, Illinois at the time of his passing.

He attended Yale University, where he received a bachelorťs degree in Mathematics. Eric continued his education and completed his Masters degree in Mathematics at Yale, and then earned a Doctorate of Education degree from Columbia University.

He served in the US Army as an interpreter and intelligence officer in North Africa and throughout the campaign in Europe. Following WWII, he remained in the Army reserves and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

He is survived by his wife Jeanne.

Memorial services are planned for 11AM Saturday April 3, 2010 At the 1st Unitarian Church, 2nd and Alby Sts, Alton Illinois. Officiating will be the Rev. Khleber Van Zandt.
