Ernest A. Palmer, Jr., 85, died June 17, 2011 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart.
Born in Lake Alfred, FL he has resided in Stuart for over 40 years, coming from West Palm Beach.
He was a retired tile and marble setter and had owned Palmer Tile and Marble.
He was a Navy Seal and veteran of World War II.
He was Protestant; member of VFW Post 10132, Hobe Sound; member and past president of the Trowel Guild in West Palm Beach; past president and long time member of the Air Boat – Half Track and Conservation Club.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Helen Palmer of Stuart; daughters, Brenda Granger and life mate, Donald Cunningham of Calhoun, GA; Linda Palmer Carver and husband, Fred of Oak Island, NC; Glenda Palmer of Calhoun, GA; three step-sons, Scott, Timothy and Eric Dickinson; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Patti Nordstrom and husband, Donald of Stuart, and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ernest A. Palmer, III; four brothers, Gordon, Robert; Norman and Donnie; and sister, Betty Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian St., Stuart, FL 34997.
SERVICES: Calling Hours will be 4 PM to 7 PM, June 22, 2011 at Forest Hills Funeral Homes Young and Prill Chapel in Stuart with a Time of Remembrance at 7 PM. Burial will be at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Murphy, (Suit) NC.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Forest Hills Funeral Homes Young and Prill Chapel.
