EAST PROVIDENCE – Currier, Ernest E., Chief, EPFD, ret., age 82, of Bullocks Point Ave., Riverside, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010. Born June 11, 1927, in Providence, he was a son of the late Manuel and Florence (Silva) Currier. Mr. Currier, a Navy veteran of WWII, served as Chief of the East Providence Fire Dept. from April 27, 1979 through June 12, 1987, beginning his service with the Department in 1953. He is survived by his six children, Kevin E. Currier and Patricia A. Currier, Jr., both of Wakefield, Timothy S. Currier of Dallas, TX, Michael P. Currier of Somerset, MA, Thomas J. Currier also of Dallas, TX, and Terrence J. Currier of London, England; and three grandchildren. He was also the brother of Albert Currier of East Providence, Dorothy Soito of Warwick, George Currier of Westport, MA and of the late Edward Currier and the former spouse of Patricia A. McCarthy. His funeral will begin Saturday at 9am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Brendan's Church, Turner Ave, Riverside. Military honors and burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday 4-8pm.
