Ernest Remillard, age 88, of Naugatuck and formerly of Southport, the beloved husband of the late Katherine Remillard, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 surrounded by his family at Beacon Brook Health Center in Naugatuck. Born in Nashua, NH, he was an area resident for over sixty years. Ernest moved to Fairfield in his early 20’s and worked for the Town of Fairfield, prior to becoming a heavy equipment operator with the Bridgeport Hydraulic Company and Morrison and Cabelli, where he was a member of Union #478 Operating Engineers. He was well known in town for playing the Spoons and he performed in the St. Thomas Variety Show many times. He is survived by his two loving sons, Wayne Remillard and his companion, Connie Glorioso of Pennsylvania and Bruce Remillard and his companion, Darlene Carlson of Naugatuck; two grandchildren, Jodie and Jeffrey Remillard of Naugatuck; three nephews, Harold Barney and his wife, Karen and Nelson and Doug Barney; as well as a niece, Rose Barney, all of Vermont. Friends are invited to attend the service on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the SHAUGHNESSEY BANKS FUNERAL HOME, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield Center. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Dance Attitude, 41 Corn Tassle Road, Naugatuck, CT 06770.
