Griffin, Essie Mae

age 83, of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully on December 30, 2011 at her home. She was born on December 23, 1928 in Texarkana, Arkansas to her parents, Lincoln Dollarhide and Ina Dollarhide Thrapp.
She married Floyd Griffin in Dallas, Texas on January 15, 1963. She attended Texarkana High School and graduated in 1945. She was a longtime resident of Dallas, Texas. She was employed by American State Ins. Company as a claims processor for 25 years. She enjoyed animals, working outside, cooking and reading. Essie will be remembered by her loving husband of 48 years. She is also survived by her loving family June Ray, sister; niece, Sherry Major; grand nieces, Marla Major; Karen Missey and her husband Tim; Hilary Cadwell and her husband Jonathan; grand nephew, John Ray and his wife Nancy; great grand nephew, Caden Cadwell and great grand niece, Amanda Missey. She is preceded in death by her father, Lincoln Dollarhide and her mother Ina Dollarhide Thrapp, sisters Emily Walker and Jessie Hamm. Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service for Essie at 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Interment
will follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park. Donations may be made to Alley Cat or Best Friends. Essie was a great friend of the animals.
