Esther Mae Williams born April 9, 1942 in Jefferson, Texas to the parentage of Lester and Velma Hawkins. She was the second of five children. She attended public school at Central High in Jefferson, Texas. After the passing of her father, her mother and siblings moved to Dallas she continued her education at Madison High School.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Starlight Church of God and Christ in Jefferson, Texas. Later she reunited with Greater Power House Church of God In Christ in Dallas, Texas.
Esther worked as a domestic house keeper. God blessed her with two beautiful children Howard and Terresa. She was a loving mother who enjoyed working her crossword puzzles, cooking cakes and pies for her family on the holidays. She loved her plants and always kept a smile on her face.
Esther is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Velma Hawkins; two brothers, M. C. Hawkins and Rev. Samuel Hawkins; two nephews, Rodney Johnson and Thomas Lewis. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, one son, Howard Williams, Jr.; one daughter, Terresa Williams; two grandchildren, Jermeal and Sha’Quintin; two sisters, Louella Johnson and Mary Duffie (Warren); two sister-in-laws, Warnie Hawkins and Phyllis Hawkins; seven aunts, Virgie Hawkins, Jewel Williams, Ethele Williams, Arnie Mae Jackson, Viola Jackson (Frank), Arneshia King (Nick) and Bertha Henderix; eight nieces, Andrea Duffie, Gail Mallard (Kenneth), Judy Washington, Wanda Carter (Bobby), Shinequa Ross, Angela Ballard and Emetra Ballard; two nephews, Delon Hawkins, Norris Ballard and J. D. Ballard; and a host of great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
