Funeral services for Esther Anderson, age 79, of Hettinger, ND formerly of Lemmon, SD will at held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Lemmon. Pastor Ken Miller will officiate with burial at the Rosebud Cemetery near Shadehill, SD. Visitations will be from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger, ND on Tuesday, September 15 and one hour prior to the service at the church in Lemmon, SD.

ESTHER O. KOMM was born on April 23, 1930 in Scranton, ND to Ferdinand and Minnie (Duel) Komm. She attended rural school south of Reeder, ND. She was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Scranton. In 1943 Esther and her family moved to Bucyrus, ND and later to Hettinger, ND.

Esther worked at the Lake View Caf' in Hettinger until she married Martin Anderson in 1947. They lived in the Lodgepole, SD area, later moved south of White Butte, SD then purchased a ranch near Zeona, SD in 1967.

Due to Martin's failing health they quit ranching and leased the ranch out and later sold it. In 1980, Esther went to work at the Five Counties Hospital in Lemmon, SD for 18 years as a cook. In 2000 they moved to Hettinger, ND to be closer to family. Martin passed away on April 18, 2005. Esther passed away on Saturday morning, September 12, 2009 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, with her loving family by her side.

Esther was a very caring person and always looked out for everyone else. She dearly loved cooking and baking for her family, homemade being her specialty.

She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Bonnie and Bill Ecker and Pam Starkey, all of Hettinger, ND; Doug Starkey, of Lemmon; two granddaughters, Kristen (Steve) Robinson and Mindy (Ryan) Papka; one great-grandson, Beau Robinson; one great-granddaughter, Sage Robinson; two sisters, Ruthie (Red) Weil and Ruby Dannenfelzer; one brother-in-law, Harmy Beld; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and two sisters.
