Ethel Portz, 89, passed away on March 8, 2013. Surviving her is a sister, Helen Montgomery (Wilbur), daughter, Donna, sons, David (Debra Jo) and Dean Portz, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three nieces, three nephews and their families. Her husband, Paul A. Portz and sisters, Sophie Klopper, and Pauline Haas, preceded her in death. After high school, she took classes at the Chicago Art Institute and was active in art-related endeavors including working at a photography studio where she retouched and colorized black/white photos. Prior to marriage, she worked at a converted Dodge-Chrysler plant, testing B-29 engines and at Rock-Ola (jukebox manufacturer) testing M1 Carbines. In Arizona, she worked at an art/drafting supply business, participated in local art leagues, was a state fair judge and taught craft classes. She also participated in the local Welcome Wagon and National Model Railroader Association Railettes. Interment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
