Ethel was more than just an employee to me, but also a Dear Friend of Heart and sometimes like a Mother to me, especially after my Mom had died several years ago at a young age.

A Strong and Stubborn Woman, I was able to understand that this was a Woman with a lot of Pride in who she was and how she had lived her life. She used to speak to me all of the time about how well her Grandchildren were doing in school and Hoped one day that all of them would be College Graduates, able to live very Successful, Fulfilled and Happy Lives. She spoke of her Son and how he had lived back East, but that she knew that She was in His Heart and that He would be at her side in a Heartbeat if she needed him at her side, as he was in her very last days. She spoke to me oft and on throughout the years mostly about her Daughter and how she worried about her Job , having to travel all of the time for her job, taking care of her children and if she would ever find Personal Happiness with a Man/Husband again in her life.
Well, when seeing all of you once again, I was able to see that Ethel's Grandchildren are all Successful, two of them Married, Blessed with a Great Granddaughter, Her Son at her Side, and her Daughter Happily Married!
Well, Senora Rivera, as I see, all of your Wishes and Dreams of your Heart came True! "God Bless You, you will always be in my Heart, especially during the Christmas Holiday, whenever I see a Christmas Tree!

There are several stories that I would love to share with all of you, but I will keep it to a few.
I was Ethel's Supervisor for several years for the County of Los Angeles.
One year in late February, Ethel came to me very upset and said that she needed to speak with me about something that she was very ashamed of.
Being her Supervisor, naturally I believed it concerned work. I then looked at her and said "It's okay, whatever you

There are several stories that I would love to share with all of you, but I will keep it to a few.
I was Ethel's Supervisor for several years for the County of Los Angeles.
One year in late February, Ethel came to me very upset and said that she needed to speak with me about something that she was very ashamed of.
Being her Supervisor, naturally I believed it concerned work. I then looked at her and said "It's okay, whatever you have to tell me, don't worry about it, everything can be fixed." As Ethel began to explain to me what the situation was about, I was a bit perplexed and kind of had to step back for a moment, so to speak, to think about what she had just said.
"She said, you know Tyler, my Daughter and Grandchildren had bought me a Christmas Tree at Christmas and with the Holidays, I had become busy with Holiday Shopping, going back and forth to my Daughter's house, seeing friends and then New Year's came upon us." She continued on to say,
"Well, my Christmas Tree began to change to the color brown and I thought that I should ask my neighbor to take it out to the trash for me, but I was too embarrassed to ask. Then later on, I was very worried about the Christmas Tree being very dry and thought then, that maybe I should ask the Manager of the Apartments where I live, to take the Christmas Tree to the trash for me,
but then, I was too ashamed to ask!" "Now I am very, very worried, because the Christmas Tree seems very brittle and I am worried about a fire now."
It took me a minute to think about what she had said and the next thing that happened to come out of my mouth was, "Oh Dear God, you mean to tell me that it is now Late February and you had not taken out your Christmas Tree?"
Ethel then replied, "I was so ashamed that I did not want to ask anybody."
So, I told her to calm down and that I would go to her place after work and dispose of the Christmas Tree.
Well, when I arrived after work and she had opened the front door of her apartment, I could see the Christmas Tree, now very brown and brittle and very, very dry! I told her, don't worry, I will just take the Christmas Tree out to the curb for the Trash Pick Up." But then Ethel said, but I do not want my Manager to know." "No problem ,I had replied, I will just take the Christmas Tree down the street and put it in front of another house for trash pick up."
"That was the Plan." So I took the Christmas Tree and ran it down the two stairwells (that are carpeted), from her apartment and down the street to put in the front of another house for trash pick up." Done! So, I thought.
As I turned around to go back to Ethel's apartment, I saw tons of Christmas Tree Pine Needles going all the way back to her apartment and up and all over the carpeted stairwells to her apartment. "Ethel said, Oh Dear Lord, now what do we do?" Again I replied, "Dont't worry, Plan B!"
"Get be a broon!" Although I was able to sweep the Pine Needles off of the sidewalk, hte Pine Needles were not so eary to sweep off of the Carpeted Stairwells.
I then told Ethel, Plan C is for when your Manager says, how did all these Pine Needles get here? I then told Ethel to say: "Geez I don't know!"And that is exactly what she had told her Manager the very next day when he had asked her if she know about the Pine Needles! I then told Ethel, from now on, let me know when Christmas is over and I will gladly go take out your Christmas Tree for you from now on.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I just wanted to let you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. Tia was a special lady and I am so glad that I had the privilege of knowing her.
