Eugene L. Brandas, 95, of Belvidere, NJ, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ. Born on May 17, 1916 in Perth Amboy, NJ, he was the son of the late Ellas and Elizabeth Becker Brandas. Mr. Brandas was a production supervisor for Merck & Company, Rahway, NJ for over 37 years before retiring. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Brandas was a member of the American Legion Post 131, Belvidere, NJ. He was a past commander and member of the American Legion Post 229, Roselle, NJ. Mr. Brandas was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Cornelia J. Szorocsin Brandas, who died on December 3, 2009. Surviving are his daughter, Patricia Smith and her husband James of Belvidere; two grandchildren, Rachel Conant and James Smith; two great-granddaughters, Emily Marie Conant and Julia Marie Smith; many nephews and nieces.
