During the early morning of January 9th 2012 God extended his arms and opened heaven's door to welcome home Evangelist Cathy Bailey-Richardson. He saw that she fought the good fight of faith and decided that she had completed her assignment here on this earth. Our dear and very special Cathy was born July 23rd 1955 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Christopher Columbus Bailey, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Marsh English. Cathy was one of eight children born to this union. While primarily raised in Brooklyn, NY, Cathy moved to the borough of Bronx in the mid-seventies and called it home until the early 1980's. As a doting mother, she was in search of a better life so she moved herself and then broad of three children to NJ. As a strong loving and independent single mother, she knew that in order to provide proper guidance and direction to her children it was mandatory to provide them with an opportunity to know God. She gave her life over to Christ in 1981 and remained an active soldier who was not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She would not hesitate to tell you about the goodness of her lord. She praised him and thanked him even when faced with trials and tribulations because she always said it was a part of learning and growing in Christ because in the end "She would have the Victory". Our beautiful mother truly was rooted and grounded in Christ and kept him in her heart constantly. Evangelist Richardson was naturally a loving and nurturing spirit and it was those traits that would lead her into the Patient Care field. Almost as if part of a master plan it was not an uncommon occurrence to find Evangelist Richardson taking her personal time praying for the sick and afflicted. She would pray for strangers as though they were of her own flesh and blood Cathy assisted many Pastors here within the tri-state area. Cathy was stunningly beautiful and there is much debate on whether she was more beautiful on the inside or out. It was that beauty that caught the eye of Elder Melvin Richardson. Melvin and Cathy were married February 13, 1989 and three more children were added to the family through that union. Cathy loved to write. You would often find her seated at the table penning songs, poems, or just jotting down thoughts. She also loved to knit and every Christmas or irthday we, her children were sure to receive a hat and scarf knitted with love. Waiting to reunite with her in heaven are her Parents and a brother William "Bill" Bailey. Cathy Leaves to cherish her memories: a Husband Elder Melvin Richardson, two daughters: Chanaid Bailey ( NY) and Cathy Canise Richardson ( NJ), Four sons, Shamel Bailey (NY) Charles Vidal Bailey, Melvin Maurice Richardson and Nathaniel Nigel Richardson ( All of New Jersey) Grand Children Shamel Bailey, Erroll Bailey Thomas, Anisah Bailey, Charles Bailey Jr and Priya Dream Davis- Richardson, two sisters; Cynthia and Grace Bailey. four brothers; Christopher, George and Darnell Bailey, John Gilbert White and one adopted brother Pastor Monroe Gilbert, one adopted sister, Shirlene White, Her Spiritual Father Bishop Liston Page, Sr. along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and wonderful friends.
