HILL - Evelyn Bundy Hill, age 93, passed away on January 17, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma from natural causes. Evelyn was an Albuquerque resident from 1978 to 2002. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Born March 6, 1918 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Evelyn was the eldest of the three daughters of Glenn and Ella Bundy. She was a National Honor Society graduate of Jefferson High School. An excellent secretary and bookkeeper, she began her long work career with Iowa Finance Company of Council Bluffs. Evelyn became the manager of the Arthur Anderson accounting office in Omaha, Nebraska in the 1950s. In the same decade, she joined the National Secretaries Association, ultimately becoming the association's regional president in 1966. By then, Evelyn had earned the prestigious Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) designation. In the 1970s, Evelyn brought her skills and accomplishments to positions at General Foods and Valmont Industries. Evelyn married Robert Lee Hill in Omaha on September 15, 1945. Their only child, Brian Rodney Hill, was born on December 18, 1948. As a mother, Evelyn surpassed even her ability as an accounting professional. She was her son's steadfast and loving mother as well as his best friend. Together, Evelyn and Brian traveled to Europe, Canada and Alaska. Evelyn and Robert moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1978. Following Robert's death in 1980, Evelyn returned to her lifelong love of ballroom dancing. She began nearly two decades of dance competitions. She won abundant first place awards in many forms of professional/amateur ballroom dance in meets from Orlando, FL to Las Vegas, NV. The Viennese waltz was her favorite. Evelyn was always the favorite of her professional dance instructors. In 1984, Evelyn resumed her work career at All Faiths Receiving Home in Albuquerque. She provided accounting services for All Faiths, a social service for abandoned, neglected, and abused children. In 2001, based primarily on her 17 years at All Faiths, Evelyn won a national award as New Mexico's Outstanding Older Worker. The awarding organization was Experience Works. Evelyn traveled to Washington, D.C. to receive her award. Retiring, finally, in 2002, Evelyn joined her son Brian in Tulsa. She continued her wide ranging dancing with the Always Dancing studio. Again, she was the favorite of her dance instructor. Again, all who met her were impressed by her. All who knew her well loved her. Evelyn is survived by her son, Brian; her sister, Beverly Johnson and brother-in-law, Richard Johnson of Omaha; and by nephews and nieces. A visitation for Evelyn will be held at French - Wyoming Chapel on Monday, January 23, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE, in Albuquerque. Evelyn will be laid to her eternal rest beside her beloved husband, Robert. Her son has established a memorial fund in Evelyn's name at All Faiths Receiving Home, 1709 Moon St. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112, and requests that donations in Evelyn's name be made to All Faiths in lieu of flowers.
