Evelyn R. Edwards, 103, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2012, at Stone Crest Residence under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born to the late Phillip and Ida (Bucholz) Konze on April 1, 1909, in Milwaukee, Wis. Evelyn attended school in Milwaukee while growing up. She went to work for Bell Telephone and worked as a Supervisor and Phone Fraud Investigator. While working for "Ma" Bell she met the "Love of Her Life," Arthur W. Edwards. They were married October 25, 1958, in Milwaukee. They settled in Oshkosh and shared over 30 years of love together. Their interests included Church, Charity, Golf, and Entertaining Friends and Family at their home on Beech Street. When not entertaining at home, they truly enjoyed "romantic" dinners for two at Robbins Supper Club. Their time together was something she cherished and severely missed in later life. Shortly after Arthur's death, Evelyn was persuaded to move to Wausau to be closer to the family. That move proved to be a most blessed event for all that got to know this precious woman. She set up residence at Forest Park Village Complex and remained there until her death. She enjoyed sharing time with the residents and loving staff. Her pastimes included word puzzles, knitting, and crafts, work she would share with friends and family. The Golf Channel provided her great peace and relaxation as she could reflect on times shared with her loving husband on the golf course. She truly enjoyed special family dinners and reveled with menus and recipe selection. Times like that would allow for her to enjoy an occasional Old Fashioned, if prepared properly. During those memorable times the word "Elegant" was perhaps facetiously used to describe the fare, but there was none more deserving of the term. Evelyn truly was an "Elegant" woman. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and special friends. Evelyn was preceded in death by loving husband, Arthur, mother, father, and brother, Phillip. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Restlawn Mausoleum Memorial Chapel, 4710 N. Troy St., Wausau, with the Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at noon until the time of service at the chapel. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. You may sign the guestbook at www.helke.com. The family suggests memorials gifts be directed to the Evergreen Parks Recreation Special Needs Program, Evergreen, Colorado, or Shriners Hospital for Children.
