Everett Austin Branch, age 86, of Little Rock, left this world November 9, 2011. He was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, August 16, 1925, to Authur and Lillian Branch. Everett was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 53 years, Irene.

Survivors include his son, Ronald, daughter-in-law, Sandra; daughter, Donna; sisters-in-law, Jeanette and Burnita Lamberth; grandson Brian and wife Kathy; two great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

Everett was a World War II veteran, a pilot in the United States Navy. He graduated in 1949 from ASU in Jonesboro, with a degree in business administration. He began his work life as a teacher and basketball coach in the Hoxie School District. He later worked several positions in the finance field and retired as a 25 year Shelter Insurance Agent.

Sports and music were his obsession. The "Southernaires," a Dixieland Jazz band he formed and led from college and many years thereafter. His love of sports and athletics, combined with natural ability, allowed Everett to pursue competitive involvement for a long time. He became an active member of AOA and served as an official in Arkansas football, basketball and baseball for over 50 years.

Everett never met a stranger and certainly will leave a void in the lives of everyone who knew and loved him. God bless Everett Austin Branch, there will never be another like him.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Arrangements are by Griffin Leggett Funeral Home.
