Fannie Watson, 91 passed away peacefully at Burnt Tavern Nursing Home on Thursday, August 4, 2011. Fannie Watson started her working career with the Veterans Administration and left in 1958 to cofound the Larson Mortgage Company with Robert Larsen in Newark, New Jersey. She rose to Senior Vice President in 1983 and leaves behind many loving co workers at Larson Mortgage Company (now named Cenlar FSB) and hundreds of Colleagues in the Mortgage Bankers Association of New Jersey. She was the first African American Women Executive in the mortgage business and received many awards, one of which was displayed in Bamberger's in Newark for over one year. Some even think Fannie Mae was named after her. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter JoAnne Collins of Brick, her son Hameed Seifuddin (John Watson Jr.), her stepson Bruce Watson, her brother Conrad Lester and her nieces Leslie Lester of Scotch Plains and Toni and Traci Lester. In addition she is survived by grandchildren Bonnie Chapman, Eric and Faith Watson, Reginald Flowers and, 5 great grandchildren and 7 great great grand children This Online Memorial has been created to commemorate the life of Fannie Watson.
