Ferrell Lee McGhee was born September 29, 1946 in Evansville, Indiana. He was the fourth of six children born to Frank and Kizzie Triggs McGhee. Ferrell attended Elementary and Middle School in Evansville, IN. He also accepted Christ and was Baptist as a young lad, in the Church of God in Christ before moving to St. Louis, MO. Ferrell continued his education in St. Louis by attending Soldan High School, where he was active in the Drum and Bugle Corp (Royal Knights). Later he received his GED and attended Heating and Cooling School. Ferrell served in Vietnam and after leaving the service he worked for a short period at the St. Louis, Record Center. Ferrell had a pleasant, easy going personality; he loved and cherished all of his nieces, nephews and family. He enjoyed sketching outdoor scenes with his pad and pencil. During his extended illness and disability, Ferrell remained cheerful and mostly content. He had several caregivers-which included his nephew, Brent F. Foster, Evangelist Elizabeth Brown and Jacquelyn Childs, after being diagnosed with throat cancer. Ferrell passed from this life at 11:05 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Delmar Gardens on the Green Nursing Home. Preceding him in death were: his parents, Frank and Kizzie F. McGhee. Ferrell is survived by: his sisters, Marva M. Dulin, and Ruby A. McGhee both of St. Louis, MO, and Deborah T. McGhee of Katy, TX; brothers, Barcland and Frank F. McGhee (Debbie) all of St. Louis, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. This Online Memorial has been created to commemorate the life of Ferrell McGhee.
