MRS. FLORENCE E. WALTERS, 85, of Liberty, Missouri, passed away January 18, 2012. She was born in Crossett, Texas. Florence wedded Herman Walters on June 18, 1943, they have been married for 68 years. She was a charter member of the St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Liberty, Missouri. She enjoyed her church work and going to conventions of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Florence taught Sunday School for many years. It was said that she was an excellent cook and was always busy. She made ceramics, crocheted, sewed and knitted, and made quilts for all of her grandchildren. She was a gardener and canned her produce. Florence was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Charles N. Smith in 2009. She is survived by her husband, Herman Walters; son and his wife, Robert and Jayne Walters of Lebo, Kansas; her daughter, Linda Smith of Pleasant Valley, Missouri; her grandchildren and their spouses, Tonya & Mark Shaw, Krista Smith, JoAnna & Eric Ferguson, and David & Rita Walters; and also by 12 great grandchildren. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the St. Stephen Lutheran Church Building Fund in Florence's honor.
