Mrs. Rector, age 87, died on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Sunrise of Bloomfield Hills (Michigan). She was born Florence Geraldine Pfleegor on August 15, 1921 in White Deer, Pennsylvania to Clarence and Harriet Pfleegor. She was a resident of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan for the last 40 years, and was a former resident of New Orleans and many other cities. She enjoyed wintering in Naples, Florida.

Education: Florence graduated from Hazel Park High School in 1938.

Mrs. Rector was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and a caring homemaker. While her husband was in the Military, she helped him manage the Officers' Club.

She loved gardening and cultivated beautiful flowers -her backyard was stunning. She liked to cook and made terrific cheesecakes. Mrs. Rector enjoyed family gatherings, and she lovingly took care of all the preparations. She also had a flair for decorating her home.

She was an avid reader, especially Mitchner novels, history novels, and some non-fiction books. She also loved animals, in particular cats and dogs. Family and friends will remember her as cheerful and friendly with a great sense of humor and quick wit. She and her husband were second parents to many of the neighborhood children.
