Mr. Floyd E. Parsons, 62, of 11161 Burkett Rd., Greencastle, PA, died Sunday, November 6, 2011 in the Chambersburg Hospital E.R. His death was unexpected. Born August 8, 1949 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Leslie F. and Anna K. (Mullenix) Parsons. Mr. Parsons was a lifelong resident of Greencastle. He attended James Buchanan High School. Mr. Parsons was currently employed as a stock keeper for Frick Company, Waynesboro, where he had worked for 38 years. He was a member of Owl's Club of Hagerstown and UAW Local 1296. Mr. Parsons played Santa Clause for 38 years in local parades, Mont Alto Toy Drive, Frick Company Kids Christmas Party and visited several local nursing homes. He is survived by his daughter, Penny Simmers, her husband John, Greencastle; his son, Rusty A. Parsons, Chambersburg, a companion, Cathy Allen, Greencastle and her son, David Allen; eight brothers and sisters: Virginia Clevenger, Greencastle, Martha House, Hanibal, NY, Leslie Parsons, Mannington, WV, Mabel Stull, Greencastle, Patricia Moats, Greencastle, Nancy Wildeson, Fayetteville, PA, Rachel Scofield, Fannetsburg, PA, Ronald Parsons, Greencastle; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Faye Parsons; and two brothers: Walter and Harold Parsons. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 11, 2011 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington Street, Greencastle with Rev. Terry Hoke officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Church Cemetery, Mercersburg, PA. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mont Alto Fire Company, P.O. Box 310, Mont Alto, PA 17237 in support of their Christmas for kids program.
