Floyd Edward Sammons, Sr., age 81, of Longview, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Good Shepherd Medical Center. Floyd was born October 21, 1931 in, Azle, Texas to Elizabeth Mills and Otis Floyd Sammons Floyd was a veteran in the Korean War honorably serving in the US Army. He worked for 31 years at Kilgore Ceramics and was a longtime member of Centre Presbyterian Church. Floyd loved to fish and never missed a Dallas Cowboys game. He was preceded in passing by his beloved wife Barbara Sammons of 55 years, his parents, and sister, Jovetta Rambo. Floyd is survived by his son, Eddie Sammons, Jr., and his wife Sandy, granddog Foxie Lady, brother Clifford Sammons, sister Janette Uicad, sister Freddie Rosas and husband Richard, brother Eugene Sammons, brother-in-law Richard White, brother-in-law Van White and his wife Katie, sister-in-law Jo Helen White, sister-in-law Mary Lee Uhler and her husband Jim, sister-in-law Peggy Bennett, sister-in-law Alice Lucas and her husband James, sister-in-law Nancy Ballard and her husband Cyril. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation from 6pm - 8pm Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. Funeral services will be the next day at 4pm at Centre Presbyterian Church in Longview, officiating by Pastor John Woodward, internment to follow at Elderville Cemetery. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Brian Ballard, Nick Bennett, Alan Lucas, Albert, Wallace and Floyd Chitwood, and William Bennett as an honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Centre Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are under the care of Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
