Forna Richard Weinrich, of Heritage Harbour in Annapolis, died August 31 at Somerford Place from complications as a result of Alzheimer's disease.
Dick was born on December 14, 1923, in Gahanna, Ohio. The family relocated to Washington, D.C. shortly thereafter. Dick received his B.S. degree from Wilson's Teachers College and his M.S. degree from Catholic University. He joined the Army Air Corps during WWII and trained as a bombardier on B17s. Following the war he worked for several U.S government agencies, but spent most of his career with the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Dick lived in Crofton prior to moving to Heritage Harbour in 1984. He became involved in many community activities which included performing with the drama club, playing tennis, golf and bowling. He also sang barbershop with the Bowie Knights of Harmony. An avid outdoorsman, Dick also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Dick is survived by his wife, Joan Cotter Weinrich of Heritage Harbour, his son Dale Weinrich and wife Marilyn of Easton, and his daughter Emily of Preston. He was previously married to the late Edith Fraser of Charleston, S.C. He is also survived by grandchildren Sean Kittle, Thomas Weinrich, Erin Kittle Donovan, and great granddaughter Brylee Donovan. He is also survived by sister in law Betty Weinrich, six nieces and nephews, stepsons John Cotter and wife Pam, David Cotter and wife Cathie, and step granddaughters Caitlyn and Lauren Cotter. He was preceded in death by brothers Lee and Herman Weinrich, sister Mary Louise Ledford, and stepson Stephen Cotter.
A memorial service will be held at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 6 at 12 noon. Graveside services will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery on Route 50 north of Easton at 2:00.
