A funeral Mass for Frances Agnes Simek, 90, of Caldwell, was held at 12 pm, Saturday, October 22, 2011 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Dime Box, Texas, with Father Anthony Alphonse officiating. Internment followed at St. Josephs Catholic Cemetary, next to Hranice cemetery in Dime Box, Texas. Pallbearers are Michael Simek, John Carnevale, Eric Barber, Brandon Simek, Cameron Simek, and Russell Simek. A rosary was recited at 7 pm on Friday October 21, 2011 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell, Texas. Frances was born in Oretta, Louisiana November 30, 1920 the daughter of Josephine and Charles Lorenz and was residing in Country Care Plex nursing home in Giddings when She passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 5.04 pm. She attended High School in De Quiency, Louisiana and upon graduation moved to Houston where she was employed by the Bama Pie shop. She met and married George Simek and they settled on a Farm South of Deanville, where she lived her whole life. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing the piano and fishing, and she especially enjoyed the outdoors. She will be missed by family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband George in January of 1989 and by her parents, seven brothers and five sisters. Survivors include one sister Vernie Shannonhouse of Atlanta, Georgia her three daughters and sons-in-law, Celeste Lansford and her husband Mike of Houston, Cathy Barber and her husband Eric of Ozark, Missouri and Shirley Simek of Springfield, Missouri, and by three sons and daughters-in-law Thomas Simek and wife Patsy of Houston, James Simek and wife Carolyn of Salt Lake City, Utah and Bernard Simek and wife Kathy of Plum, Texas. She has eleven grand children and nine Great Grand children. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Strickland Funeral Home of Caldwell.
