Frances Millard Born November 7, 1909 in Bakerton, WV passed on Saturday, July 30, 2011 in Alexandria, VA. Frances attended Sheppard College and later Orange Memorial School of Nursing in New Jersey. She graduated as a registered nurse in 1936 and received her masters degree from Columbia University. She became a clinical instructor for nurses in Orange, NJ before moving to Alexandria, VA in 1961 when she accepted a position at the Alexandria School of Nursing until her retirement in 1975. She attended many reunions and loved to travel. She is a member of the Fairlington United Methodist Church and the Church Women United Group. She enjoyed going to Sunday school, playing canasta and was an avid reader. Frances always approached life with a positive attitude and her faith in God and Jesus Christ, her Savior. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Relatives and friends may call at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Dr. Alexandria, VA on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Graveside service at Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town, WV on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 11 AM. Memorial service at Fairlington United Methodist Church, 3900 King St. Alexandria, VA 22302, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairlington United Methodist Church.
