Franconio S. Zalasar
August 15, 1927- August 22, 2011
Mr. Zalasar, 84, of Huntsville died Monday at a local hospital. He was a retired Sergeant Major with the US Army. He served in WWII, Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He served in the Ordinance Ammunition Branch of Redstone Arsenal. He retired from Civil Service. He was a member of the Von Braun Lions club, NATE and served on the Senior Horizon Circle at Huntsville Hospital. He was a student and life long learner.
He survived by his wife- Janis Zalasar; son-Jerry Zalasar( Brigitte); daughter-Josie Derting; one sister- Josie Wojtowicz; one brother-Vinnie Zalasar; one step son-Christopher Dafoe; six grandchildren-Candice Sanderson(Walker), Sonia Parker(Matt), Dianne Brumbelow (Rodney) and April Robnet(Mark), Cole Dafoe and Carson Dafoe; seven great grandchildren- Nate and Tyler Sanderson,Evan and Riley Parker, Ryan ,John and Rachael Brumbelow; one son-n-law-Ron Derting and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 11:00am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00pm till 8:00pm at Valhalla Funeral Home. The interment will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Please sign online registry at www.valhallafunerals.com.
