Frank Charles Salerno, Jr., 76, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in the Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, OH. Born September 25, 1934 in Follansbee, WV, he was a son of the late Frank Charles Sr. and Sara Berthilda Bishop Salerno. His sister Rose Mary Silvidi also preceded him. Frank's first job was with Weir Cove Bakery at the age of 14. Later, when he was hired at Weirton Steel, he worked as a buggy operator, and then worked in the Mechanical Department of the Tin Mill where he later became foreman in the Department. He had over 25 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, and the WSX 25-Year Club. Mr. Salerno is survived by his wife Stella Mariam "Babe" (Gazia) Salerno; son Frank Charles Salerno III; daughters Laurette Salerno Misch and Bridget Summers all of Weirton; brothers Leonard "Lanny" Salerno of Weirton, Louis Salerno of New Cumberland and John Salerno of Ripley, WV; grandchildren Jaimie Lynn Summers and Lacie Marie Salerno and several nieces and nephews and loads of great nieces and nephews. Per Mr. Salerno's request, there will be no visitation. Private services will be held at the convenience of his family.
