Frank May Tippetts of Payson, Utah, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Frank was born in Provo, Utah on April 2, 1924 to Heber Chase and Lucy Melvina May Tippetts and lived in Utah, Wyoming and Montana. During World War II, he served in the Navy Construction Battalion.

Frank married Janet Baum on October 27, 1949. They are the parents of eight children: Ann (Bill) Christiansen, John (Debbie) Tippetts, Paul (Christine) Tippetts, Julie (Rick) Dillman, Bonnie (Monroe) White, Sandra Hutchison, Lisa (Dan) DeGraffenried, and have 39 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren.

Frank received his Bachelor and Masters of Arts degrees from Brigham Young University and Ph.D., Arizona State University. Many students were inspired by Frank as a Professor of Art Education at BYU.

He was active in scouting and loved the outdoors. His great love was the process of designing, creating and building. But above all else was his family; he loved doing things to help his children. In his desire to serve the Lord, he served in many callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including three missions: Czechoslovakia Mission; Vancouver British Columbia Mission; Czech Prague Mission. He was preceded in death by his son, Joel B. Tippetts and granddaughter, Shannon Dillman.

A viewing will be held Sunday April 3, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson Utah. Funeral services will be Monday April 4, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the West Mountain 2nd Ward Building, 400 North 900 West. A viewing will be one hour prior. Interment will be in the Provo Cemetery with Military Rites.
