Fred Arthur Trotman, 85, went home to be with the Lord on October 12, 2011. He was born in Christ Church, Barbados, on December 16, 1925. He found the Lord and was baptized in 1940. He immigrated to America in 1951, having first traveled to Trinidad, and Panama. Fred was a hard-working man, with a strong desire to provide for his family. He held many different careers during his life, working as a radio operator, a greeting card writer, and a substance abuse counselor. He ended his career working as a prison guard in the State of New York.
Fred met his future wife, Gladys Trotman (nee Falcher), while attending school in Manhattan, New York. They married in 1956, and their union produced one child, their daughter, Sandra (Trotman) Jenkins.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Donald F. Trotman and Louise (Smith) Trotman, and many siblings, including his brothers, Cecil, Clyde and Egbert, and his sister, Olga. He is survived by his daughter Sandra (and James) Jenkins, and his former wife, Gladys. Fred also leaves behind his nieces, Janice and Gail, and nephew, Craig. Fred will be missed by all who knew him, including a host of grand-nieces and nephews, friends and extended family.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Stickel Mortuary, 2201 Inyo St., Mojave, CA, 661-824-2328, www.simpletribute.com.
