1. my friend john kincel and i used to attend fred's performances at the passport bar and restaurant in manhattan beach california in the late 50's and early 60's-- john also played the 12 string guitar--we would get there after leaving our second shift assignment at the north american aviation plant in el segundo about 1 am in the morning--fred would play till 2 pm or so and, sometimes, john, who always carried his guitar with him, would jam with fred after the place officially closed for the evening--they were both outof sight
