BELMONT: Mr. Fred K. Louis 75, of Belmont N.C. died May 22, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte. A native of Nassau, Bahamas, he was the son of the late John Harry Louis and Victoria Marie Moses Louis. Fred attended Belmont Abbey Preparatory School and was a graduate of Belmont Abbey College, class of 1958. Thereafter he made Belmont his home; where he was a retired partner and C.P.A. at Cherry, Bekaert, and Holland's Gastonia office. Fred was a member of Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church and frequently attended Belmont Abbey Basilica of Maryhelp, serving as usher. He was a former member of the Belmont Kiwanis Club and the Four Seasons Dance Club, and an active B.C.O. volunteer. He was a member and past board treasurer of the Gaston Country Club; where he was an avid golfer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Kelley Louis. Survivors include a daughter, Laurie Louis of Ft. Mill, S.C.; a brother, Dr. John Harry Louis of Nassau, Bahamas; a sister, Sylvia Marie Malone of Nassau, Bahamas; a sister-in-law, Viviane Kelley Stark of Tallahassee FL; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rt. Rev. Placid Solari, O.S.B., Rev. Kieran Neilson, O.S.B., and Rev. David Kessinger, O.S.B. at 2:00 P.M. Saturday May 26, 2012 at the Belmont Abbey Basilica of Maryhelp. Entombment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be James Michael Collins, Donald M. Hartsoe, George M. Howe, Jr., Henry T. Howe, Samuel L. Howe, Thomas M. Hunter, Jr., Joe Boyce Maynard, and Parks H. Wilson, Jr. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30 – 8:30 P.M. at the residence. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Belmont Community Organization, P.O. Box 1248, Belmont, N.C. 28012.
