MILLERSBURG - Fred L. Ford, age 91, passed away Friday, March 18 at the Manor at Susquehanna Village. He was born on October 18, 1919 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the son of the late George and Carolyn (Lipp) Ford. He attended Wilkes-Barre area schools and graduated from G.A.R. High School in 1937. He graduated from Wilkes-Barre Business College. He was retired from the Borough of Kingston in 1982 where he served as Controller. He was preceded in death by his wife Sara Jones Ford, son William, and grandson Richard. He served four years with the 7th Armored Division and the 8th Air Force and served in the European Theater in WWII. He was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant. He was a member of the Fidelity Lodge #655 F & AM and the Bloomsburg Consistory. He was a member of the First Welsh Presbyterian Church in Wilkes-Barre where he had served as an elder, trustee and financial secretary. He was also one of the founders of the Heights Little League. He is survived by his sons Fred Ford, Jr. and his wife Jean of Halifax, PA, Richard Ford and his wife Mary Ann of Spring City, PA and grandchildren Frederick, Gary, William, Katherine, Jennifer and Sara Ann and 6 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 25 at 12:00 Noon at Mount Greenwood Cemetery, Shavertown, PA. Donations can be made to his church at S Meade & Northampton, Wilkes Barre, PA 18701.
