Fred W. Lindquist, 84, of Loveland died of lung cancer on January 19, 2010 while under Hospice care at the North Shore Health and Rehab facility in Loveland. He was born October 6, 1925 to Otto W. and Caroline M. Lindquist in Chicago Ill. He married Wanda J. Thompson on September 3, 1955. He and his wife moved to Colorado in 1969, lived in Broomfield for many years, and later moved to Loveland. Fred was retired after 4 decades of employment with Northwestern Bell and Western Electric in Illinois and Colorado. He served in the U. S Army during WWII from May 1943 until November 1945. He received many accommodations including 4 Bronze Stars, several Air Medals, the Oak Leaf Cluster, the American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal for his service in Germany, France, Rhineland, and Central Europe for his leadership, actions and courage in sustained bomber combat operations. He enjoyed gardening and bike riding even into his later years and loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Wanda T. Lindquist of Loveland, daughter, Janet E. Lindquist, and son, Fred E. Lindquist both of Fort Collins, daughter Carrie J. Lindquist of Windsor the mother of Fred's only grandchild, Carley Vander Vliet Lindquist of Grand Junction, currently a senior at Mesa State College, and daughter, Ruth (Frank) McPherson of West Bloomfield MI. The family would like to especially thank the nurses, caregivers, and staff of the Hospice Unit at North Shore Health and Rehab facility for their loving care, compassionate spirit and heartfelt dedication to our beloved husband, father and grandfather. You will forever be in our hearts and prayers and we will never forget all that you have done for us. A private family service will be held.
