FREDDIE ROBERT COX

Freddie Robert Cox, 81, of Shady Spring, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 23, 2012.
Born September 8, 1930 at Dunns, WV; he was the son of the late Sampson D. Cox and the late Bertha Ethel Lilly Cox.
Freddie loved working on cars, and lawnmowers at his repair shop located at his home. He worked at Day and Night Garage for 25 years. And was a member of the First Baptist Church, Shady Spring.
In addition to his parents, Freddie was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanette Farley and Ruby Boice; a grandson, Robert E. Lilly; sons-in-law, Pete Carper and Robert L. Lilly; and a niece, Emma Farley.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 61 years, Betty Jo Moye Cox; three sons, Barry Cox and wife, Vickey of Shady Spring, Allen Cox and companion, Angie Underwood of Daniels, and Chris Cox and wife, Michelle of Shady Spring; two daughters, Fredia Lilly of Flat Top, and Brenda Dunkle and husband, Tom of Kenova, WV; a brother, James E. Cox of Fenton, MI; two sisters, Delma Fields of Louisville, KY and Reva Carberry of Louisville, KY; five grandchildren, Melanie Persinger of Shady Spring, Jason Cox and wife, Mary of Ghent, Jeffrey Lilly of Beckley, Kenny Carper of Gaithersburg, MD, and Stephanie Carper of Centreville, VA; great-grandchildren, Lauren Persinger, Kaitlynn Cox, Hailey Cox, Jennifer Shrewsbury and husband, Derek, and Alyssa Lilly; and a host of extended family and friends.
Services will be held 1:00PM Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Pastor Delvin Elwell officiating. Following the services, Freddie will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Jason Cox, Kenny Carper, Jeffrey Lilly, Derek Shrewsbury, Tom Dunkle, and Chris Cox will be serving as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family from 12:00PM until time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.
